REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for Cork Beach Hat 2008 which is taking place on the 7th & 8th of June at Ballynamona beach in Co. Cork. The tourney will take the same format as in previous years.

The Cork Beach Hat Tournament has been running now since 2004 and was the first annual Beach Tournament in Ireland. This is very much a fun tournament and usually takes place right at the end of college exams so many use it as a chance to celebrate

The meeting point for the tournament is in a pub in Cork, and accommodation is arranged in a UCC players house on the Friday night. Saturday morning we go down to Ballynamona beach in East Cork, which is about 30 minutes from Cork and 10 minutes from any civilization (including toilets and shops - be warned!)

The teams are picked on the Friday night and play starts about midday Saturday. Play goes on until about 7pm-8pm (whenever bad light hits really), and then the party happens. The party consists of a barbecue, bonfire, singsong and generally goes on until retiring to tents on the beach about dawn.

After about 4 hours sleep, play starts again about 11am Sunday, and finishes about 3pm. A quick presentation to the winners, and usual spirit awards, and it's time to get back to Cork in time for trains or flights about 6pm.
